A move is afoot in the cyber world to boycott Wyoming and the state's businesses over the state's wolf management policies that have resulted in the recent killing of five wolves.
Vicky Frangos, a former Billings resident who lives in Santa Clarita, Calif., has posted on the Yellowstone.net forum a list of places to avoid and people to contact to voice discontent with Wyoming's wolf policies.
"I support putting pressure on the #2 industry in Wyoming ... tourism," Frangos wrote in an e-mail to The Gazette. "I suggest people write letters, call the local WY agencies and let your voices be heard, choose the option of not spending money in Yellowstone or WY while still being able to see the park - it can be done - you simply stay in Montana, get gas in Montana and buy Yellowstone trinkets in the Montana gateway towns."
Gray wolves in the northern Rockies were taken off the endangered-species list on March 28. Since then, five wolves have been shot in Wyoming.
Under Wyoming's management plan, wolves are managed as predators and can be killed on sight outside of their "trophy" zone in the northwest corner of the state. In trophy regions, a license is required to kill the animals. The exception is that landowners are allowed to shoot wolves that threaten livestock, although the landowners must possess a kill permit issued by the state.
Diane Shober, director of the Wyoming Office of Tourism, said her agency has been fielding occasional calls from people upset over the recent wolf shootings.
"It's unfortunate that one thing is tied to the other," she said. "But it's not unusual when people are passionate about something. Some people want a venue to vent. We certainly don't take it personally."
She said her agency also fields calls when wild horses are rounded up for sale. But in the big scheme of things, she said the few calls of protest are drowned out by the "several hundred thousand" requests for information on visiting the state.
Tourism is the second-largest industry in Wyoming, led only by the extractive industries of oil, gas and coal. In 2006, the last year for which numbers were available, tourism brought in $2.5 billion in direct expenditures to the Cowboy State. Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks are the big draws, although most visitors to the state drive and visit several attractions along the way, Shober said.
Teton and Park counties, next door to Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks, each pull in a sizable chunk of change from tourism. In 2006, Teton County collected $551.9 million and Park County took in $219.3 million in direct expenditures, Shober said.
Of greater concern to the Wyoming tourism industry, and the nation as a whole, is the possibility of recession and the chance that gasoline will hit $4 a gallon, Shober said. But even with those clouds gathering, Shober said Xanterra, the concessionaire for the state's two national parks, is reporting advance reservations ahead of last year, which was a record year for park visitation.
"International travel is growing leaps and bounds because of how the dollar stacks up against the euro," Shober said. "Hopefully, the wolf issue will level off soon."
In 1993 and 2003, the group Friends of Animals tried to initiate a tourism boycott of Alaska over its aerial wolf-shooting program, which was directed at reducing pack numbers in order to boost moose populations for hunters. Although then-Gov. Wally Hickel relented in 1993 and stopped the hunt after 15 days, Gov. Frank Murkowski wasn't as amicable in 2003 despite thousands of letters of protest. In the wake of the incident, tourism actually increased the following year.

Thank you Vickie for moving to California, [if only more would follow you]. Please stay there and mind your own business. Tourism in Big Wonderful Wyoming isn't gonna hurt one little bit by your cyber soapbox rant and if it does Montanans are glad to take the tourist bucks. If any thing, people are going to come here, 1.] Just to see if they might get a chance to see a big bad wolf, and 2.] When gas prices go up more people tend to travel in the US instead of travelling abroad.
Rather than have Wyoming shoot them, lets trap and send them to California, and let them reap the benefits of the the dead livestock and increased tourism to see the wolves. They never should have been reintroduced.
I echo the sentiment of Liberty63. Looks like you picked the right state to move to. You mind California's business and we will mind Wyoming's business. If you don't like what is happening in Wyoming then you need to become a Wyoming resident and change it, don't stand in California and throw rocks! Grizzly bears are next!
Same here Liberty63. This Montanan is hoping all of Vickie's friends head west as well. All we can hope for is when every lupus lover leaves they have a cute fuzzy wolfy under each arm.
A hollow threat, the wolf watchers did not spend any money with anybody up here in Mt that really counted. Guess what Vicky you are not welcome to Mt or my business. I have the right to refuse service to anybody and that menas all wolf lovers. It will make the drive from Gardnier to Cooke City much nicer since morons like you will not be parked in the middle of the highway blocking traffic while are looking at my next rug out in the Lamar Valley. But on the plus side it is amusing to see the morons run out and get gored by bison and eaten by bears thinking YNP is a big petting zoo.
It is amazing these people thought they could plant a major predator in the middle of ranch country, then demand that none be killed. Maybe that California smog ruins their brains.
Vicky and her friends on Yellowstone.net should all stay home this summer and see if it harms Wyoming or the other states that much.
Good Morning Brett French! Do you get to pick the stories you write? Try this headline: TOURISM FROM MONTANA TO WYOMING INCREASES FOR FREE WOLF HUNTING!
Good luck on your boycott. Frankly, these things never succeed but if it results in a little less Kalifornication of Wyoming and it makes you feel better about yourself, I will be overjoyed. Thank you Gov Dave for ignoring the wolf lovers and sticking to your guns on the predator status of wolves. I would like to see an additional one percent sales tax on all purchases in the park to pay for this folly.
Here is an idea, lets get Ed and his helicopter to gather up some excess bone crushers and he can fly them to California unload and hide in the bushes there, and if he gets caught, well the people will thank him, then he can let those four legged terrorists loose and Vickie can just go out in her own back yard and watch the vicious little flufballs rip the limbs off the deer, elk, horses, sheep, calves, dogs etc. No sense leaving California out of the fun! Boycott!!! What a joke that is!
Well, even I woke up to a surprise today!
I think this is the first time I've ever been called a
wolf fan. I did chuckle when I saw that.
As most people who have read anything I've posted
in the last 9 years know... I am not a wolf watcher.
I do not go to Yellowstone to specifically watch wolves.
If I see one, I see one. That said, I do support wolves
being re-introduced and being in the GYE. Some
wolf watching activity annoys me. It has been
documented here at Y Net that I did not like seeing
the use and wear of "the hill" as a wolf watching
stage.
As with all media, they take what they want to
steer their story. I should know, it's not my first
time in a newspaper (I've also been on TV, on
the radio and so on over the years on many
different political issues).
My concern at 2:59 am when I posted that list to Y Net
was due to the nature of the killings. So called
"hunters" LEAVING the wolves on the ground to rot.
What about hunting ethics? Under the Wyoming policy,
wolves can be poisoned and aerial shot. How could
Wyoming allow such a policy?
So, for the record, that is my issue with it is. When I
have an issue with something, I'm more than happy
to provide ways for anyone else to complain and protest
as much as they want. I love bringing awareness
to anything that warrants it.
I clearly suggest that one can still go to Yellowstone
which is obviously mostly in Wyoming. I suggested
ways to curb how much $$$ money ends up
benefitting Wyoming.
I'd like to point out also that I have not used the
word boycott anywhere. That credit should be given
to Flying Scotsman - see his thread on Boycott or
patronize, your choice.

My original post on Y Net (page #13 of the Wolf
Delisting thread) and on Ralph's Blog specifically
says...
Send letters, make calls, etc of any complaints
about the Wyoming Wolf Killings.
I was contacted by Brett French via email. We played
2 days of phone tag and we never ended up speaking.
In all fairness, I don't know where he got the idea to
contact me. Maybe it's because he made the list! LOL
Here is what I sent Billings Gazette sports writer Brett
French via email on Wednesday in regards to his email
to me....
Hi Brett!
I'm not sure who passed my email address to you
but here's the scoop.
People from every state are clearly looking at Wyoming's
wolf policy unfavorably, which basically, is allowing the
wanton killing of wolves. Idaho's policy is not much
better than Wyoming's.
People have less issue with lethal control of wolves
(gov. officials following guidelines when there IS an
issue) vs. random people killing wolves and leaving
the carcasses to rot as was the case in WY last
weekend. Hunting ethics don't apply to wolves killed
in Daniel, WY? It's my opinion that most hunters
don't appreciate wanton killing and animals left for
dead. Most hunters have ethics.
It is also unsettling that in 1996, just at the beginning
of the Yellowstone wolf introduction, Yellowstone
wolf R-12 was shot and left for dead in Daniel, WY.
Wolf R-12's killer has never been caught.
Here we are, in 2008 at the beginning of the
wolf delisting, and Daniel, WY has shot the first
Yellowstone Wolf under the delisting - collared
wolf 253.
Wyoming is allowing aerial gunning. Wyoming is
allowing poisoning of wolves in the designated
predatory animal areas. That is outrageous.
I support putting pressure on the #2 industry in
Wyoming... tourism. I'm not sure where agriculture
is on that list but it's not #1. I suggest people
write letters, call the local WY agencies and let
your voices be heard, choose the option of not
spending money in Yellowstone or WY while
still being able to see the park - it can be done -
you simply stay in Montana, get gas in Montana
and buy Yellowstone trinkets in the Montana
gateway towns. : ) Yellowstone had over 3.1
million visitors, a chunk of those million support
seeing wolves back in Yellowstone.
It's always good to remember that Yellowstone
was a National Park with wolves before Wyoming
was a state. I'm quite sure that Yellowstone had
wolves before cows and sheep were introduced
to Wyoming.
Stop wanton killing of wolves and ask wolf hunters
this weekend to think about ethics and not
bragging rights.
One more thing- I also support seeking out Montana
businesses in Gardiner, Cooke City, Silver Gate, and
West Yellowstone that support wolves in the Greater
Yellowstone Ecosystem and utilizing a way to identify
them to give them business.

~ Vicky
Yes Yes would be tourists! The animals in the park are oh so tame please go stand next to that Buffalo so I can take your picture with it! Oh and don't tell anybody but the bears will like you better if you fill your pockets with marshmallows and bacon grease! We don't normally tell the out of staters that because it makes us jealous when the animals like them better!
Congrualations,Vicky your stupidity has won you this years Darwin award, an all expense paid pheasant hunting trip in beatiful Wyoming with it's favorite son, Straight Shootin Dick Cheney. Enjoy your vacation. Bret I read your outdoor articles & photo section I like them very much (if you have any choice)do not give bird brains like this any press, it makes them feel important as they are rideing thier 10 speeds down the highway crunching granola bars & drinking bottle water.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hasn't been intimidated by the "pro-wolf" groups either and aerial wolf hunting remains in place, despite all the lawsuits. Congratulations to Wyoming and Governor Dave Freudenthal for standing up against these political groups and asserting state sovereignty, but expect tourism to contract in the years ahead as the nation sinks into stagflation. This time next year, don't believe the nonsense when they try to tell you that their boycott is working while negative macro-economic forces are at work.
Vicky, are you serious in the fact that we have not found wolf R-12's killer yet? OMG, how do we sleep at night. Also, the hunters shooting wolves would never leave it to rot...that is a prime wolf rug, I can't wait to shoot a couple and I hope they are female, less pups that way. I know for a fact the state of Wyoming will not miss you and your friends couple thousand dollars in purchases. There are too many wolves Vicky that is why we are killing them, they are not endangered anymore why can't you accept that simple fact???
I agree lets transplant those wolves to California. I think Vicki and others like her , aren't so much pro wolf as they are anti-hunting. Vicki and others are knowingly and unknowingly following an agenda. That will have a tremendous impact on wildlife here in the west, and in America. One thing is for sure, wolves kill for the pleasure and they waste. They reproduce and spread like wildfire. Even with hunting you won't be able to keep their numbers in check. They are extremely smart and adaptable, and once they figure out they are being hunted, they will become nocturnal and accelerate their breeding. The truth about wolves will come out no matter what kind of propaganda these pro wolf people spew. I think Ed Bangs knows this, and his name is going to go down infamy along with a lot of others! I fully support Wyoming and their wolf hunting policies, and for standing strong up against this wrong. What I want to know, is why isn't Montana and Idaho, doing the same thing. Montana should consider what will happen if wolves are allowed to destroy public hunting. Anybody that tells you we can have both hunting, and these huge pleistocene age predators on the landscape is lying to you. Hunting brings in a lot of revenue to the state and smaller communities. For every livestock attack you here about, you know they are going after the elk deer and moose the same way. And every year it seems to get more and more crowded out there. I say, good for Wyoming! Vicki and her kind, should mind their own business and worry about California, because she is not doing our wildlife or the people who live here any favors.
to those who shoot wolves in Wyoming: is a .243 heavy enough for a wolf or should I consider going to something with a little more oomph like a 25-06? I'm pretty happy with the results I'm getting with the .243 at present. Please advise.
I'd be interested in knowing the name of Launchpad's business. My nephew's junior high class from Virginia is planning a trip to Yellowstone this summer. We will be sure and boycott this, and all anit-wolfer owned businesses. So I guess miss Shober can cancel our reservations, and I don't think the wolf issue will be dying soon. Do you have any idea how barbaric and uneducated the State of Wyoming looks to the eyes of the world. So Vicky, where can I and all of the out of staters get a complete copy of the list?
catbestland: remember, you eliminated the wolves from Virginia YEARS ago. Also remember the outcry from Virginians and Carolinians alike when the red wolf was reintroduced into the Dismal Swamp.I guess itis the "not in my back yard" mentality?
Mr/Ms YNP4ME, YOU ARE UPSET THAT THE GOOD,I`M MEAN DEAD, WOLVES ARE LEFT ON THR GROUND! CAN YOU SHARE RECEIPES? WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO, HOLD A FUNERAL?
I'm still tryin' to figure out how Wyoming loses if the rabid self-serving "we don't give a da*n about anyone but us" greenies and animal nazi's stay away.CATBESTLAND:Thank-you. We consider it an honor that you do NOT consider us as a vacation spot this year.
catbest if you boycott all antiwolf establishments around YNP I think the closest you will get to yellowstone is say colorado. For the most part the only thing we like less then pesky wolves is nosey tourists....if you don't like our politics and game managment techniques stay home, we won't miss you
I am embarrassed as a Wyoming resident as to what our state is doing to these wolves.
Maybe I am one of a few on this forum that feels this way, but the mentality of most here is appauling. BTW, my neighbors agree with me, I think this forum is used for trolling by bigots.
Well,
I am for boycotting WY and ID and MT.
It is all about defending our America's Wildlife, not only wolfves but buffalos also.
Shame on you so called hunters!!!
Killing for fun..killing the ones who can no defend themselves..like 3-legged wolf.
Same, shame on Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
Maybe you can disclose your name..are you afraid...
Who really cares if these people boycott Wyoming or Montana for that matter? This is our home and if we want to buy a tag (of which the money goes back to the research and conservation of the animal!!!) and exercise our right to hunt an animal it's nobody's business! The do these people not understand the concept of species control? Or are they just so far removed from the real situation that the concept of things like species overpopulation and disease cause an animal to suffer a far more excruciating death than a bullet does?
Cat bestland and coho I own and operate a welding-repair and manufacturing business, and co-run the family owned ranch. We have lost money, livestock, damaged fences, and time due to the harasment of wolves to our livestock.I own a Ford, 2 Chevy's, Mercury, and an Old's, sorry no Dodge. A loving family, 3 horses, a 12 year lab dog, and 2 cats. And now with the introduction of your piece of crap wolves, Now I can not let the younger kids play in the foothills of our property safely anymore as the last 4 generations have in the past. And worry about my dear pets get snatched away and turned into a pile of feces. And horses being run into a fence and being maimed for life. Do not worry about boycotting me,
I really doubt you ever do business with me, thank god. Cat and Coho just go crawl back into the hole you came from.
PLEASE BOYCOTT ALASKA TO '' ALL YOU DO IS PILLIGE THE RESOUCE;S AND TELL US HOW TO MANAGE OUR LIVE;S CALIFORNIA NEED;S MORE MOUNTAIN LION'S AND ALL THE WOLVE'S ; TO KEEP THE TREE HUGGER'S IN CHECK '' THE ONLY PEOPLE TO MAKE MONEY ON TOURIST;S ARE NON RESIDENT SHOP OWNER'S AND CRUISE SHIP COMPANIE'S '' THE LOCAL'S GET NOTHING BUT TRASH AND RUDE TOURIST'S SO STAY HOME AND RUIN WHAT'S LEFT OF YOUR STATES ''AN ALASKA RESIDENT; PS SNARE;S WORK GREAT ON WOLVE'S
To "Catbestland:" please do us all a favor, and make sure your nephew's class avoids Wyoming altogether. I am so SHOCKED to hear we appear barbaric. Pound sand, Toots.
Please advise me on the negative we will see from the "Cali's boycott and not coming here and spending their money" I'd rather be less the money if it includes less the idiots. Also please advise as to the downside of killing all the wolves that don't belong here in the first place? I know I have 4700 square feet I would love to cover with nothing but the finest in wolf hair.
OK Vickie let's look at this from a Wyoming NATIVE'S point view. For starters wolves are not coming into yards in Kalifornia to eat the local pets, they are here. Secondly wolves are not decimating Kalifornia’s wildlife, they are here. Thirdly, if wolves are bringing oodles tourist dollars to Wyoming, I have heard very little about it, and have seen nothing substantial to back up the few claims I have seen. Lastly we started with 31 of these things and now have nearly 2000 in just over ten years. If they are slow to populate and reproduce as some have claimed these numbers alone should refute that claim. If you don’t believe it plot the population over time on some graph paper and you will see a nearly vertical line representing exponential growth. Hopefully I haven’t confused you granola brain with the facts. In short if you would like these VERMIN in your backyard you are welcome to come here and wolvenap a few to your region of the country. In the mean time please keep your inane opinions in Kalifornia where they will of course be welcome, as irrelevant as they are. Frankly we don’t care if you or your buddies stay at home and boycott our state. There will always be others willing to come here and we won’t miss you or the pitiful few dollars you would be willing to spend. SSS
Since the Californians have a Grizzly on their State Flag, they should be required to accept all the bears that get in trouble here in Montana. When can you accept shipment?
I don't doubt at all that the wolves are supposed to get rid of the ranchers and the hunters that the Cali-greens do not like. I think the thing that has made them balistic though now is the lack of control over the state of Wyoming, and they seem to think threats is going to gain that control back for them.
Okay, let's think about this. The wolf should never have been brought back. All those nut cases in the government were convinced that they would never leave the park because they would have all they needed to eat there; thus not having a reason to leave. Well, I'll be darned, they were so very wrong. The wolves left the park and they are eating well on Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and North and South Dakota cattle, sheep, cats, dogs and anything else they can find. Of course, we can't shoot the poor darlings even though they are killing and maiming our livelihood. Oh yes, I forgot, if they eat a cow, they will pay us almost what it is worth, but it is a one time deal, so we are losing out on the yearly calves that would have been born. But, hey, that is our problem. Now, if one of the poor dears came into my yard, I would probably have it stuffed and you could come and visit it, but I'd have to charge you since you are a tourist. Don't forget to bring road kill to feed it. I am sure that you will be welcome back in California. Since you are one of those environmentalists, please park your car at the border and walk in. Have a nice day.
Vickie and pals,
Please list your businesses and addresses so we can boycott YOU and we can also ship you some wolves problem bears and maybe a skunk or two to help freshen that lovely California air of yours. Please do stay home and avoid us, and worry about your problems in California. Your state has plenty of problems that could use your attention.
How come Wyoming gets all the luck. A bunny hugger boycott!!! Ask any person who caters to tourists. Who are the nicest, the biggest tippers, the biggest spenders generally and the most respectful--it ain't the Sierra club crew.
John Stevens, I agree, but there aren't too many bigoted pro-wolfers trolling tonight, in addition to you. Vicky is so clueless she's missed the wolves slaughtering domestic livestock and pets in Montana in the last 13 years. Maybe she didn't say the actual word 'boycott', being a typical liberal, but she danced around it with the usual Clinton-esq gibberish. To me, staying away and urging others to stay away means a boycott.
YNP4me - just curious..... have ever seen what your sweet, cuddly wolves do? They kill for fun. NOT to lovingly instruct their young, not to eat. That is total BS propaganda put out by the Yellowstone wolf fanatics who spend their day peering through a spotting scope to see a speck a mile away.... These people are NOT seeing the objects of their affection close-up. Wolves will go thru a herd of elk (or sheep, or whatever) and systematically disembowel or tear the throats out of the babies. They do not eat these babies..... they leave them to die, in pain. I have personally not seen it but several of my friends, ranchers and non-ranchers alike (one a HUGE wolf fan up to that day) have personally seen up to 30 baby elk lying on the ground dead or dying in one place. If and when I see such a slaughter, I assure you it will be photographed and the pictures spread all over the west to help to dispel the "noble, loving, family-wolf" myth. These are not domesticated dogs. Having said that, I think wolves should NOT be totally exterminated. But in the interest of the Yellowstone ecosystem as it exists now (not the as it was 100 years ago), with people and ranchers living in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, the wolves DO need to be controlled. There are those of us that can remember Yellowstone with abundant moose and elk. We are also the people who hike and ride the Beartooth mountains and in the park - you know, leaving the car. Heres your sign - there was plenty of grass in the elk grazing areas all spring and summer - just no elk anymore. It is not just a lack of grazing as Ralph would have you believe. Wolves are decimating other animal populations to the point where they may not return for decades. Stopping thinking in black and white and look for a sane balance here. Just like any other animal, the wolf population needs to be managed. Or, if you like them so, as others have noted, take a few home to your town and dump them in the outskirts, they will be fine - but I bet your perception changes when these predators are in your backyard.
Most recently, a mountain lion wondered about our herd of cows and calves. That keeps the herd pretty excited for a few days. Takes a while for the odor to lift and for the cows to settle enough to go back to the feed grounds. We haven't noted a kill but the stress always affects the mother cows. Don't know who killed the wolves in Wyoming. Don't know why they killed the wolves in Wyoming. My guess is that if the wolf was wondering towards me and my front door, I am pretty sure I would have to empty my gun on him. It's plain to see that the folks that only come here to tour, thankfully, have no idea what that really feels like. To know that a killer is roaming in your place of business, near your home and loved ones. Gov. Dave and the boys in Wyoming do a good job of taking care of their state and its people. They are making money like crazy drilling and digging in their fine state. Building new schools and roads. Your tourism dollars are better spent in Montana. Dave and the boys will get along without you. Byron and his girls in Montana need all the help they can get. You folks from others states are telling the girls what to do up there. Don't cut the trees so people are jobless. Don't put in wind powered energy because that might mess up the view. Don't drill for methane gas. You bet. Byron S. and the girls in Montana are keeping the state mighty hungry. So yes, go to Montana. Stay in our hotels. Gas up here. Fly in and out of Billings. There aren't many other places that have flights. Goodness knows Eastern Montana is a rent a car area. The only flight from Big Sky died with the airline. You come and bring your friends. And when your visit is over and your pockets are empty, you go home to Virginia or California or New Jersey and you tell ALL your friends how nice the folks in Montana were to you and how much fun you had and how beautiful the whole state is. But you go home.
The only thing that would be better than a wolf nazi moving to california would be all the wolves following them. I will make a special effort to visit Wyoming this year. If only Montana had as much sense as Wy. in their management policy......
Weeell Vickie, here's the scoop, people from every state are indeed looking and watching what is going on in Wyoming, the people I am referring to are the hunters and fishermen who spend millions of dollars in that state every year, they are wondering what you mean when you talk about a wolf wanton killing?, I think you got this mixed up, the wolves are the ones that do the killing and wanton waste, I think you are the one that needs to educate yourself on not only wolf behavior but on economics, so that when you say and print something you don't come off like you did, which is a typical, stir up the pot from 1000 miles away LIBERAL, I'm not saying you don't have a good education and (that in your mind)don't mean well, you just are simply out of your league when it comes to debating this issue with people who live and make their living in an area inflicted with this wolf issue, as sincere as you may think you are, you do not belong in an issue that affects private industry and private property, the passion belongs to the locals in this issue, talk all you want about gov't land and its issues but when it involves private property and the privacy of people please keep your nose out of it! You talk about ethics, is it ethical of you to tell a rancher that his living is not near as important as yours, who made you the shepherd of the wolf flock anyhow? I suggest you move to the area and set yourself up a residence and run your pro-wolf propaganda business, and then you will have the right to debate the issue with your new neighbors!
I'm sure Wyoming will be real up-set when the California Liberals stop showing up in their 25 year old cars covered from one end to the other with bumper stickers looking for a free camp ground where they can pitch their tents and become a part of nature for three days. As for the Liberals who inherited fortunes, they all moved to Jackson Hole ten years ago and will continue to buy their diamond studded saddles locally.
One thing I object to is using the ESA to manage the management of animal populations when the animals in quesion are no longer endangered. How a state manages its animals is not the business of the federal govt to approve or hinder.
rancherswife, Right on. BS is a typical liberal/Dem: all blather and photo ops. Montana stopped being the last best place a long time ago. Wyoming has problems with outside hostility, too, but they're better at waving them aside. I'd say Wyoming is now the last best place, but for Wyoming's sake, I hope no celeb reads this, 'cause they'll take you down, too.
The only good wolf is a dead wolf, and the only good wolf-lover is one who stays in California. Sounds harsh, I know, but after almost 20 years of this idiocy one's desire to be diplomatic starts to erode.
too bad vickie doesn't play the pied piper and take los lobos with her to the land of fruits and nuts i'm sure she was a part time resident of big wonderful!!!!!!!
This should not be rocket science! Wolves kill livestock. Not exactly a news flash to anyone. Yet it never fails that some self centered, myopic protector of the animals decides it's okay for a human family to suffer financial loss. Get out your check book Vicky Frangos and put your money where your mouth is. Lets see you put your financial security at risk if you believe what you say. BUT you won't do that. People like you never do.....
The State of Caliphonia used to have more bears and wolves long ago to, before those morons paved it over. I say turn Yellowstone back into a Wilderness and tear out all those paved roads/bathhouses/campcenters/ and return it to the animals and the horse and hiker folk, you see what being neighborly to outa staters gets ya, pretty soon they all think they own the place, toss all them tourists out, their funny money is only worthless paper anyhow, I say rewild everything and let the mountain men roam.
We should invite Vickie up for the Couger in a suit case treatment. Put wolves and grizzlys in her front yard, bus them critters on down her way, then we can change the tune of her whine. Heck them califolks is almost unarmed down that way to, real smart folks aren't they. I have boycotted California for 25 years, I see it is still down there, spewing its Marxist point of view still. Some folks just never learn do they.
I bet them yellowstone critters would love to see them paved roads rolled up and those goofy lookin city slicker twits stop bothering them, shucks most of the animals leave yellowstone for the summer just to escape all those twits that think it is some kinda zoo, just go hike some Jedediah Smith Trails, a real wilderness experiance, the bears might pet you all in there. ha ha.
Don't fret none Wyoming, why I was just over there spending my cash, zooming around on my sled, and now that less Vickies will be around maybe I can find a place to light and set again. I only wish less marxists ruled the roost in Idaho, then I wouldnt be lookin over the wyoming fence for some hunting that has been better managed, those darn wolves have ate them selves out of a food source over here, just about.
I was thinking, we got buff burgers, elk burgers, venison patties, duck/geese sausage, fried rabbit, grilled moose tenderloin, cold salmon cuts, heck, we should start selling wolfie burgers, how about wolf jawbone stew? Them Veitcong eat dog, why cant them twits eat it to....
Well shucks-a-doodly, Mammy and Pappy, grab a beer and pinch yer little sister, I see the redecks, Yayhoos and cyber space experts in "woof biology" are out in force on this one. I've thought from the get-go that Wyoming's tourism industry would suffer because of this. But upon more reflection, I doubt it will make that much difference. A few braying rednecks will keep intact the state's reputation as being -- well, full of braying rednecks who love to shoot anything that moves. Meanwhile, life will go on, and I'm sure Wyoming will continue to be a national leader in per-captia rates of substance abuse, depression and suicide (way to go Wyoming!) I do predict that if the state's back-assed wolf "managment" (wanton slaughter) policy goes unchecked, the wolves will go back under federal protection... and we'll have to listen to 15 more years of crying over the fact that Jimmy Bob can't hop on his snowmobile with his AR 15 and go hang out around Wyoming's elk ranches (feedgrounds) in hopes of maybe getting a chance to open fire on a gubbamint super-woof.
This kind of ignorance can be expected from the state of Wyoming, considering that according to the US Census Bureau, Wyoming is ranked 43rd in the US in terms of adults possessing higher education. It shows.
Marion and HillaryIsEvil, et. al: glad to oblige you. I am not a Californicator. I am in Utah. I hunt. I fish. I eat what I kill. I am the child of farmers/ranchers and I respect the life style. Going to an elk feeding attraction and blasting a wolf at hundreds of yards with a rifle and scope when the wolf is not attacking any livestgock is, well, wimpy. Hope you like the rug, whoever you are.
I have to drive to Colorado four times a year on business. I used to drive on I-80. I used to spend a few bucks on gas and a motel and some restaurants. Was it a lot? No. But it was more than a $20. And I did put on a clean shirt in the a.m. I will be traveling on I-70 now.
You all don't want me to come to Yellowstone? Fine. Good idea. I need to check out the parks south of here, anyway.
I figure at my usual rate of expenditure, in 22.5 trips, or 5.6 years, I will have spent $18,000 in Colorado instead of Wyoming. As to all your suggestions that you don't care, good. Then it is mutual.
Again, congratulations on that rug. You don't just hunt for trophys or kill to kill? Then how did that wolf taste?
Wolf eats all right, kinda wormy like pork though. Kinda funny how some folks calls indoctrination education. That is hillarious, YOU all went to your government approved public/private schools funded by the COMMUNITY, ha ha, and you think it was education. You were trained what to believe, told what to read, probably got one them liar boxes sittin in your house, Probably listen to that EGYPTIAN STAR NAMED SIRIUS, thats the Dog star, ha ha, that why you all think wolfie is a God? ha ha. Ahh shucks I gotta shovel more global warming off my porch and set a doggie bowl out for wolfie, poor sucker ran out of elk.......
